Tips and tricks to get more visitors to your blog

If you’ve only just got your blog up and running you’ll now be looking for ways to get as many people to it as possible. Of course you don’t want anybody to see it though, no, you want people who will be interested in the topics that you’re writing about. As with anything in the internet world, you need to work hard at getting people’s attention as they won’t just flock to your blog, unfortunately.
There are two types of ways to attract people to your blog, paid and free. Unless you already have a large amount of cash lying around then I would suggest using the free method to get you started. By doing it the free way what that means is you are sourcing organic traffic from search engines or other sources. Some very good ways of doing this are article marketing and SEO. You do have social networking sites as well at your disposal such as Facebook, MySpace, Twitter to name but a few.
Another way which is a bit less unconventional is Yahoo Answers. For those who don’t know, Yahoo Answers is a website where anybody can ask a question, which other people should answer. In order to make this work you must have two Yahoo mail accounts. What you do is you log into Yahoo Answers with your first account, and then you enter a keyword phrase related to your niche in the form of a question into Yahoo Answers. So for example if you were in the business of selling unique dog collars, you may put the keyword phrase ‘high fashion dog collars’, then type in ‘Where can I find exclusive dog collars?’ as a question.
After this you need to log out and leave Yahoo Answers. Then with the second mail account you sign in and go find the question you just asked. What you will find here is hopefully two things, 1. If you’re question has not been asked before then you should get lots of new customers from it 2. If you submit a very informative and accurate answer then more people are going to follow you. Now whether you take the answer from another website or you do it yourself is up to you, but if you do pinch it then make sure you re-word sufficiently to not be recognised. At the side of your answer there is an area called ‘Know your source’ and this is where you put your blog in.
Hoping that your question will be original will make life easier but Yahoo Answers will also come up with other similar questions and you can see whether your answer would be well placed there too. Why should you be doing this? The reason for using Yahoo Answers is to get backlinks to your blog with every answer you submit. The more backlinks you have the higher your blog will be pushed up the rankings, and we all know how important this is. So apart from getting people to your blog from the answers you put out you will also get people from search engines too.
The other method is by using forums. You need to find a forum that is related to the topic that you are talking about. You need to search around a bit and find the forums that allow you to put links into your signature file. Then edit your signature file by including a catchy caption and your blog URL. Once you have found a thread that is relevant to your blog topic, then see if you can find one that has as few replies as possible as most people don’t tend to turn to the second or third page for answers.
Once you find such a thread you need to post your reply. You should then try to indicate your signature file as most forums will allow this, normally in the form of a check box. Of course you can try to imitate the method on Yahoo Answers by starting off you own thread, which would enable you to show your signature file to everyone who reads the post.
With a bit of work and time you should start seeing more visitors to your blog from both the search engines but also Yahoo Answers and other relevant forums.
